The Land
Truly Ewe sits in the shadow of the Wolf Mountains near Lodge Grass, Montana. The same grass that built this country feeds our flock. No confinement. No feedlots. The animals live on the land and finish on it.
Holistic management means the flock moves. The land rests. Grazing pressure is planned. We manage grass. The animals are the tool. Better land, healthier animals, cleaner meat.
The Flock
We run a Katahdin Dorper cross. Katahdin for their reliable multiple birth rates. Dorper for their weight gaining ability. We also carry some Royal White genetics to enhance hardiness and resistance to parasites.
As hair sheep, they produce less lanolin than wool breeds. Less lanolin means less of the gamey flavor most people associate with lamb. The result is cleaner, milder meat that eats closer to beef than anything you have tried before.
